It was the birthplace of the Australian Paddle Steamers which opened the inland to trade and export facilities on the coast.

Mannum is still the home of the PS Marion. A fully restored paddle steamer, Marion represents river history at its best. The PS Marion is a fully restored heritage vessel built in 1897 and is one of the last operational, heritage, steam driven, wood fired, overnight passenger carrying side paddle steamers in the world.

While you are here, don’t forget to visit our Mannum Dock Museum of River History. It is a gem full of heritage attraction focusing on river history showing the preservation of life on the River Murray and surrounding areas. Displays in the Museum follow the life of the Murray River from its birth, showcasing fossilised sea creatures and a lot more.
